A comprehensive approach to postural correction
ABC™ represents a groundbreaking advancement in Chiropractic: a full body, manual method designed to correct and optimise postural biomechanics. We assess and address the structure and function of your entire body, from head to toe, to achieve balanced alignment.
Understanding poor posture and pain
Physical stresses/traumas are a natural part of life, whether it be from accidents and injuries or from the more common ‘micro-traumas’ like prolonged sitting, often in poor positions, and repetitive tasks. These traumas can lead to misalignments of the spine and body that place added pressure on the muscles, joints and nerves.
While our body is able to correct most of these misalignments, there are others it cannot. When the body is unable to correct these misalignments on its own, it compensates by twisting and adapting to relieve stress and discomfort in certain areas. Over time, these compensatory twists build up layer by layer, leading to stiffness, reduced range of motion, poor posture and, eventually, pain and discomfort.
Types of poor posture we commonly see:
Forward head posture
Rounded shoulders
Hyperkyphosis (rounded upper back)
Dowager’s hump (hump at the base of the neck)
Sway back
Stiff/locked up posture
Uneven shoulders
Tilted pelvis
‘The straw that breaks the camel’s back’ when it comes to these types of twists that often take years to build, is pain.
How we can help
ABC™️ focuses solely on addressing misalignments that your body cannot correct on its own. By bringing the body into better balance and alignment, the need to compensate falls away, allowing your body to naturally "unwind" from the patterns of tension and twist that contribute to poor posture and discomfort.
Core principles of ABC™
1. Your body has an ability to heal. This is self evident if you have ever cut yourself or broken a bone. ABC™ acknowledges this innate ability of the body and works with it rather than against it.
2. The body cannot correct all ailments and problems. Again self evident by people living with pain and various problems. If the body could fix everything, there would be no need for chiropractors.
3. ABC™ focuses on correcting ONLY what your body cannot self correct.
4. Correct spinal alignment (posture) is important for health and living pain free. Changes in posture place unnecessary pressure on joints, muscles and nerves.
The importance of posture should not be underestimated. “Observation of the striking influence of postural mechanics on function and symptomatology have led to our hypothesis that posture affects and moderates every physiologic function from breathing to normal hormonal production. Spinal pain, headache, mood, blood pressure, pulse, and lung capacity are among the functions most easily influenced by posture.”
